How to create a meme coin on Solana

  1. Prepare a wallet and a launch plan

  2. Choose the token standard

  3. Add the name, ticker and logo

  4. Set the supply, decimals and recipient

    Enter the initial supply and choose how many decimal places the token supports. For example, 6 decimals allow a balance to show six digits after the decimal point. Confirm which wallet receives the initial supply. If you create without an initial supply, keep mint authority so tokens can be issued later.

  5. Review authorities and the creation cost

    Mint authority can create more supply; freeze authority can freeze token accounts. Decide which permissions your project needs and disclose retained permissions. Removing an authority is permanent. Check the creator’s current service fee and estimated network rent, then review the wallet transaction before signing.

  6. Confirm the mint, then prepare distribution and trading

    Wait for the transaction result and check the mint address, initial balance and authorities on the token page or a Solana explorer. Use the mint address when sharing your token. Distribution, airdrops and liquidity are separate operations with their own requirements and costs; creating a token alone does not make it tradable.

Can I create a Solana meme coin for free?

What supply and decimals should I choose?

Choose values that fit your distribution plan. Supply is the number of tokens issued; decimals control how finely each token can be divided. A large supply does not itself create value. Review the initial recipient and authority settings along with the numbers, because decimals cannot be edited after the mint is created.

Should I revoke mint and freeze authority?

Revoking mint authority prevents further minting. Revoking freeze authority removes the ability to freeze token accounts. These are separate, permanent decisions. Keep only the permissions your project requires, explain them clearly, and do not treat revoked authorities as proof that a project or its liquidity is safe.

Choose the logo in the creation form. The optional custom-address control searches for a mint address matching a short pattern in your browser. A custom address does not change the token standard or guarantee recognition by wallets and exchanges.
